Relationships with our significant others or spouses are sensitive to the effect of stress, regardless of the source. Stress acts as a barrier to intimacy. The energy that it takes for us to contain or control our reactions to stress, is energy we can’t use to connect with our partners. When tensions created by stress dissolve, we experience the ability to forge a deeper level of conversation with our partners. It is in this more relaxed and open context that effective therapeutic work can take place. This is what I help my clients create.
My name is Tara Galeano. I am a psychotherapist in private practice, I am a sex therapist, and I am an educator. I have been facilitating groups for over twenty years in businesses, educational institutions, and medical organizations such as National Renewal Energy Laboratory, Boulder Community Hospital, University of Colorado, and Naropa University. My style is warm, direct, and gentle as I help women who are recovering from cancer learn about their intimate desires and rekindle them in their lives.

I have been in private practice since 2000; including 4 years of working at University of Colorado at Boulder at Counseling & Psychological Services. I have taught at Naropa University, University of Colorado at Boulder, and The Colorado School for Family Therapy. I am a licensed professional counselor, certified in marriage and family therapy, board certified in sexology, an AASECT certified sex therapist, and a Level II TRE Practitioner. I specialize in working with adult individuals, couples, and groups focusing on sex therapy and relational counseling. Generally speaking, my therapeutic approach involves exploration and understanding of patterns and limitations with the aim of personal transformation and freer, more creative living. I use a variety of techniques and methods drawn from sex therapy, couples therapy, family systems, and trauma/tension releasing exercises (TRE). I will help you develop strategies to grow as an individual, as a partner within a relationship, and as a member of a family or group.
